Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of PA5-77782 was sufficient for detection of BRSK1 in 15 µg of mouse brain cell lysates by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-rabbit IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 70 kDa.
Target Information
BRSK1 (SAD1) is a serine/threonine kinase and a UV-induced DNA damage checkpoint kinase. It is highly expressed in the brain and testes. BRSK1 is involved in stress-induced cell cycle arrest, and overexpression leads to G2/M arrest in HeLa S2 cells. Reduced expression by siRNA partially abrogates UV-induced G2/M arrest, indicating its role in DNA damage checkpoint function. Both BRSK1 and BRSK2 are required for mammalian neuronal polarization. Double-mutant mice lacking both proteins die shortly after birth, with neurons showing uniform neurites expressing both axonal and dendritic markers. At least two isoforms of BRSK1 are known.
