CDC25A는 CDC25 family의 phosphatase 중 하나로, 인간 세포에는 CDC25A, CDC25B, CDC25C 세 가지 유전자가 존재합니다.
이들은 세포 주기의 서로 다른 단계에서 기능하며, CDC25A는 G1 및 S phase 진행에 필요합니다.
CDC25A는 cyclin-dependent kinase CDC2의 두 개의 인산기를 제거하여 활성화시키며, DNA 손상 시 분해되어 염색체 이상을 가진 세포의 분열을 방지합니다.
CDC25A는 종양유전자(onco-gene)이지만, 그 정확한 발암 기전은 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았습니다.
