Retinol (Vitamin A)은 혈액 내에서 운반 단백질인 retinol-binding protein (RBP, 또는 RBP4)과 결합되어 운반됩니다. RBP는 lipocalin 계열 단백질로, 간의 저장소에서 말초 조직으로 retinol을 전달합니다. 혈장 내에서 RBP는 transthyretin (TTR)과 결합하여 신장에서의 여과를 방지하며, 이 복합체의 안정성은 비타민 A 결핍 진단에 중요합니다.
비타민 A 결핍은 RBP 분비를 차단하여 표피 세포로의 비타민 A 공급에 장애를 일으킵니다.
또한, 지방 조직에서 RBP 발현 증가가 인슐린 저항성과 관련이 있음이 밝혀져, 제2형 당뇨병 및 비만의 병태생리 연구에도 활용됩니다.
Target Information
