Target Information
SYNE1 (Nesprin-1) belongs to a family of type II integral membrane proteins characterized by multiple spectrin repeats, nuclear localization sequences, and a conserved C-terminal transmembrane domain.
These proteins are ubiquitously expressed, with tissue-specific isoforms generated through alternative splicing.
Nesprin-1 localizes to the nuclear membrane and is developmentally regulated in muscle cells, redistributing during myoblast differentiation.
Nesprins may function as “dystrophins of the nucleus,” maintaining nuclear organization and structural integrity.
