Target Information
Retinoic Acid (RA), the active metabolite of vitamin A, regulates the transition of proliferating precursor cells (such as carcinoma and neuronal precursors) to postmitotic differentiated cells.
The Retinoid X Receptor (RXR) family (alpha, beta, gamma) preferentially binds 9-cis-RA and regulates gene transcription by forming heterodimers with RA receptors.
RAs may play a therapeutic role in cervical cancer and are known to be key regulators of neuronal development, synaptic plasticity, and learning and memory behaviors.
