Target Information
LIM domain-binding protein 1 (LDB1), also known as Carboxyl-terminal LIM domain-binding protein 2 (CLIM2), binds to the LIM domain of various LIM domain-containing transcription factors.
LDB1 regulates transcriptional activity by mediating specific partner interactions and cooperates with LHX3 and ISL1 in interneuron and motor neuron development.
It synergizes with LHX1/LIM1 in axis formation and gene activation, and interacts with LMO2 in erythroid precursor regulation.
LDB1 forms homodimers via the LIM2 domain of LMX1A and is expressed in multiple adult tissues including brain, heart, skeletal muscle, colon, thymus, spleen, kidney, liver, small intestine, lung, and peripheral blood leukocytes.
Three isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
