Target Information
PTPN13 is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, acting as a signaling molecule that regulates cell growth, differentiation, mitosis, and oncogenic transformation. It is a large intracellular protein with a catalytic PTP domain at the C-terminus, five PDZ domains, and a FERM domain that associates with plasma membrane and cytoskeletal structures. PTPN13 interacts with and dephosphorylates Fas receptor and IkappaBalpha, suggesting a role in Fas-mediated apoptosis. It also interacts with GTPase-activating proteins, potentially regulating Rho signaling pathways. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants are known.
