Target Information
CYP8B1 (sterol 12-alpha-hydroxylase)는 cytochrome P450 superfamily에 속하는 monooxygenase 효소로, 다양한 내인성 및 외인성 화합물의 대사에 관여합니다. 주로 간에서 발현되며 담즙산 합성에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 특히 CYP8B1은 콜산(cholic acid)과 케노데옥시콜산(chenodeoxycholic acid)의 비율을 조절하여 콜레스테롤 용해도를 제어합니다.
인간 CYP8B1 유전자는 염색체 3p22.1에 위치하며, 501개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질을 암호화하고 인트론을 포함하지 않습니다. 이 유전자 프로모터는 hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α에 의해 활성화됩니다. 마우스에서 CYP8B1 유전자 결손은 주요 담즙산인 콜레이트 합성을 방해합니다.
