Target Information
Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of four RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
RPL24 encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L24E family. It is located in the cytoplasm. Historically referred to as ribosomal protein L30 due to sequence similarity with yeast L30, its official name is ribosomal protein L24. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
