Product Specific Information

• For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.
• Not recommended for staining erythrocytes in flow cytometry applications.
• Suggested positive control for IHC: human tonsil.
• Mouse anti-human CD55 antibody, clone 67 recognizes the human CD55 cell surface antigen, a GPI-linked molecule also known as decay accelerating factor (DAF).

Target Information

CD55 (decay-accelerating factor, DAF) is a GPI-anchored membrane glycoprotein that protects autologous cells from the classical and alternative pathways of the complement cascade.
It interacts with CD97 to regulate T cell activity and complement processes.
In tumors, CD55 promotes angiogenesis, tumorigenesis, invasiveness, and resistance to apoptosis.
It is a 70 kDa glycoprotein in erythrocytes, with higher apparent molecular weight in other cells due to O-glycosylation.
CD55 binds activated C4b or C3b fragments, preventing assembly and accelerating decay of complement pathways.
It carries Cromer-related blood group antigens.
Two alternatively spliced transcripts exist: one encoding a membrane-bound form and another producing a soluble protein at lower levels.
CD55 has also been implicated in prostate cancer growth and survival.
