TNFRSF11B 유전자가 인코딩하는 단백질은 TNF-receptor superfamily의 구성원으로, 골흡수를 억제하는 역할을 하는 오스테오블라스트 분비 decoy receptor입니다. 이 단백질은 osteoprotegerin ligand에 결합하며, 골파골세포의 발달을 조절하는 주요 세포외 인자입니다. Mouse 상동체 연구에서는 림프절 형성과 혈관 석회화에도 관여함이 보고되었습니다. 대체 스플라이싱된 전사체 변이도 존재하지만, 전체 길이는 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았습니다.
