Target Information
The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is a protein assembly localized at the nuclear rim and mediates macromolecular transport between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Nucleoporin NUP160 is part of the NUP107–160 subcomplex, which also includes NUP107, NUP133, NUP96, and Sec13p homologs.
A small fraction of this complex localizes to kinetochores and spindle poles during mitosis, interacting with proteins such as Mad1, Mad2, Bub3, and Cdc20.
Immunodepletion of the NUP107–160 complex results in defective spindle assembly, indicating multifunctional roles.
NUP160 has also been identified as an HIV dependency factor (HDF), suggesting potential as a drug target in HIV research. Multiple isoforms of NUP160 exist.
