Target Information
O6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase (MGMT) is an important DNA repair protein involved in tumor cell resistance to the cytostatic activity of chemotherapeutic alkylating agents.
This protein protects normal cells against genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of DNA alkylation by removing alkyl groups from the O6 position of guanine.
MGMT expression levels vary widely depending on cell type, tissue, species, and growth conditions, and also differ among tumor groups and within specific tumor types.
