Target Information

FANCD2 (Fanconi anemia group D2 protein) is essential for maintaining chromosomal stability and promoting accurate homolog pairing during meiosis. It plays a key role in DNA double-strand break repair through homologous recombination and single-stranded annealing. FANCD2 is required for the targeting and stabilization of BLM at abnormal structures caused by replicative stress and facilitates BRCA2/FANCD1 loading onto damaged chromatin. Mutations in the FANCD2 gene lead to Fanconi anemia complementation group D2, which affects bone marrow elements and results in anemia, leukopenia, and thrombopenia.
