Target Information
This gene belongs to the A/B subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While most hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The encoded protein contains two quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and has two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
