Target Information

BAG-5 protein is hypothesized to induce the death of nigral neurons through interaction with hsp70, leading to increased protein aggregation and cell death by disinhibition of hsp70’s anti-apoptotic function.
It may play an important role in neuronal death mechanisms and could act as a modulator of the hsp70/hsp40 chaperone axis or coordinate localization/modulation of other BAG-containing proteins via BAG-BAG heterodimerization.
