Target Information
Post Synaptic Density 95 kDa (PSD-95), also known as synapse associated protein 90 kDa (SAP90), is a membrane-associated protein found in the postsynaptic density of forebrain neurons and certain presynaptic structures in the cerebellum.
PSD-95 contains three PDZ domains, one SH3 domain, and one guanylate kinase homology (GuK) domain. It plays a key role in clustering NMDA receptors and Shaker-type potassium channels at the synaptic membrane in CNS neurons.
PSD-95 interacts with other proteins through:
- C-terminal T/SXV motifs shared by NMDA receptors and potassium channels.
- PDZ-PDZ interactions, such as with neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
