Product Specific Information
- A diffuse signal may be seen at higher concentrations (5–10 µg/mL) in ICC/IF.
- In Western Blot, non-specific bands at 40 kDa, 65 kDa, 75 kDa, and 90 kDa may appear.
- Predicted to react with chicken, cow, and Xenopus laevis based on sequence homology.
- May not perform well in ICC/IF using mouse cells.
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It is a calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in this gene are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of function contributes to cancer progression by enhancing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. The ectodomain mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells, while the cytoplasmic domain is required for internalization. E-cadherin plays a central role in tissue architecture and integrity. In humans, it is encoded by the CDH1 gene on chromosome 16. Reduced or lost expression correlates with increased tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential.
