Target Information
Acyl-Coenzyme A oxidase 3 (ACOX3), also known as pristanoyl-CoA oxidase, is involved in the desaturation of 2-methyl branched fatty acids in peroxisomes. The human gene shows low expression in liver and is typically undetectable by standard assays. The human cDNA encodes a 700 amino acid protein with a peroxisomal targeting tripeptide (S-K-L) and may be expressed under specific developmental or tissue conditions.
