Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).


Target Information

Mesothelin was originally identified as a differentiation antigen of mesotheliomas, ovarian cystadenocarcinomas, and pancreatic adenocarcinomas. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored, cell-surface glycoprotein primarily expressed by mesothelial cells of pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal membranes.

Aberrant expression has been observed in several cancers, including endometrioid uterine adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas of the esophagus, stomach, lung, and cervix. Proteolytic cleavage of Mesothelin produces a soluble fragment known as megakaryocyte potentiating factor (MPF), which can stimulate megakaryocyte colony formation in murine bone marrow cultures.

Although the precise biological functions of Mesothelin and MPF remain under investigation, both are strongly implicated in tumorigenesis, promoting tumor cell proliferation, migration, anchorage-independent growth, and metastasis.
