This antibody recognizes porcine CD107a, also known as lysosomal-associated membrane protein-1 (LAMP-1).
CD107a is a type I single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein expressed strongly on macrophages and weakly on monocytes and granulocytes.
Target Information
LAMP1 (CD107a) is a major constituent of the lysosomal membrane, with 1–2% also present on the plasma membrane.
It is a heavily glycosylated membrane protein containing a signal peptide, multiple N-linked glycosylation sites, a single transmembrane domain, and a short cytosolic tail.
LAMP proteins are essential for lysosome biogenesis and fusion with phagosomes.
Upon cell activation, LAMP1 relocates to the plasma membrane via a tyrosine-based motif (YXXI).
Mutations altering this motif disrupt lysosomal localization, causing cycling between plasma membrane and endosome.
Surface LAMP1 and LAMP2 promote adhesion of PBMCs to vascular endothelium, suggesting a role in inflammation.
Increased LAMP1 expression is observed in neurons and glial cells around senile plaques in Alzheimer’s disease, and in macrophages and lymphocytes during thymic involution.
LAMP1 serves as a reliable marker of mast cell activation.
