The Human MCP-2 (CCL8) Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures MCP-2 (CCL8) protein and can be combined with other Simplex kits to create custom multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits (not using a pre-configured panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on a sandwich ELISA principle, using two specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument. Only 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, is needed, and results are available in about four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single sample. Each bead in the assay is internally dyed with unique red and infrared fluorophore ratios, allowing spectral identification by Luminex systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Similar to a sandwich ELISA, matched antibody pairs identify the target protein. Each bead type is conjugated with a specific antibody, and detection is achieved with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE). The Luminex instrument uses two lasers: one to identify bead signatures and another to quantify RPE fluorescence, which correlates with protein concentration.

ProcartaPlex assays allow profiling of multiple proteins using significantly less sample and time than traditional ELISA. Multiplex panels are available for multiple species, including human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
