Target Information
This gene encodes an RNA-binding protein involved in growth regulation. It is present in pre-ribosomal ribonucleoprotein complexes and may participate in ribosome assembly and regulation of rRNA processing. The protein interacts with the cytoplasmic domain of the ErbB3 receptor, contributing to growth regulatory signal transduction. It also acts as a transcriptional co-repressor of androgen receptor-regulated and cell cycle regulatory genes through interactions with histone deacetylases. This protein has been implicated in growth inhibition and differentiation induction of human cancer cells. Six pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 3, 6, 9, 18, 20, and X.
