MP425 targets IL-1 beta in Western blot applications and shows reactivity with porcine samples.
The immunogen used is recombinant porcine IL-1 beta.
MP425 detects IL-1 beta with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 18 kDa.
This product is a Low Endotoxin formulation, tested using the Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay and contains ≤10 endotoxin units per milligram (EU/mg).

Target Information

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol and is cleaved to an active 17 kDa form through inflammasome activation.
IL-1β lacks a classical signal peptide and is secreted via an alternative mechanism along with caspase-1.
It signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1α, and its activity can be inhibited by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA).
IL-1β plays a key role in innate immunity and inflammation, and elevated levels are linked to chronic inflammatory diseases.
Neutralizing antibodies against IL-1β have potential therapeutic value.
