APC1 (also known as mitotic checkpoint regulator, MCPR) is a conserved component of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), an E3 ubiquitin ligase that controls progression through mitosis and G1 phase.
APC/C degrades anaphase inhibitors, mitotic cyclins, and spindle-associated proteins, ensuring proper mitotic sequence.
APC/C component mRNA and protein levels are expressed at similar levels across tissues and cell lines, indicating their function as part of a complex.
