This antibody recognizes an epitope within amino acids 721–733 of STAT1, a 91 kDa transcriptional factor involved in antiviral responses and interferon alpha (IFN-α) and gamma (IFN-γ) signal transduction.

Target Information

STAT1 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 1) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. It is activated by interferon-α, interferon-γ, EGF, PDGF, and IL-6, regulating genes related to cell growth, apoptosis, immune response, and lipid metabolism. STAT1 plays a key role in mediating cell viability in response to various stimuli and pathogen exposure.
Located on chromosome 2, STAT1 is phosphorylated by JAK tyrosine kinases and translocates to the nucleus to regulate gene transcription. Among the seven STAT types, STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, and STAT5b have broad activation profiles. STAT1 is activated by multiple ligands, including IFN family (IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ, IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, CSF-1). Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms of STAT1 have been described.
