Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45331 was sufficient for detection of Drosophila HSP70 using an indirect assay with rabbit anti-rat IgG and goat anti-rabbit IgG:HRP.
Detects approximately 70 kDa (heat-inducible form).
Target Information
HSP70 is a heat shock protein (HSP) expressed in response to various biological stresses, including high temperatures.
The HSP70 family includes several conserved proteins induced by stress in all examined organisms.
Human HSP70 family members include:
- HSP70: strongly inducible in all organisms, constitutively expressed in primate cells
- HSP72: induced exclusively under stress conditions
- HSC70: constitutively expressed, involved in uncoating of clathrin-coated vesicles
- GRP78 (BiP): glucose-regulated, localized in the endoplasmic reticulum
- p75 (HSP75): mitochondrial localization
HSP70 stabilizes existing proteins against aggregation and assists folding of newly translated proteins.
It also participates in the ubiquitin–proteasome pathway via interaction with AU-rich element RNA-binding protein 1.
The HSP70 gene is located in the MHC class III region, clustered with two related genes encoding similar proteins.
