Target Information
GCPR54 (also known as KISS1R) is a galanin-like G protein-coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1. The receptor is implicated in endocrine regulation and the onset of puberty. It is expressed in various human tissues including brain, placenta, pancreas, and spinal cord, and at lower levels in spleen, blood leukocytes, testis, thymus, and other organs. It is also abundant in tumor tissues. In rats, expression is found in liver, intestine, and multiple brain regions such as hypothalamus and hippocampus.
