This antibody detects proteins containing phosphorylated tyrosine residues. It is known to show cross-reactivity towards phosphothreonine.
Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in signal transduction from transmembrane receptors and in oncogene tyrosine kinase-mediated transformation. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a primary mechanism for signal transduction during mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. It also influences differentiation and gap junction communication.
Antibodies that specifically recognize phosphorylated tyrosine residues are essential tools for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and their biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone pY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in IHC and ICC protocols where secondary antibody use may complicate detection.
