• In ELISAs, this antibody does not cross-react with recombinant human IL-1 beta, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7, -8, -9, -10, -11, -12, -13, or recombinant mouse IL-1 alpha, -1 beta, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7, -9, or -13.
• Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
• Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).

Target Information

IL-1 alpha (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is encoded by the IL1A gene and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1 beta.
Located on chromosome 2q13, IL-1 alpha plays a key role in innate host defense by inducing production of other proinflammatory cytokines and initiating acute-phase responses.
IL-1 alpha activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which blocks receptor binding via competitive inhibition.
It is involved in immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis, and is produced as a proprotein that is processed and released upon cell injury, inducing apoptosis.
High IL-1 alpha levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
IL-1 alpha also regulates NF-kappaB and MAPK pathways, and stimulates IL6 and COX-2 (PTGS2) expression, enhancing nitric oxide (NO) production.
