Human IL-6 (also known as B Cell Stimulating Factor BCSF, BSF-2) is a ~21–28 kDa factor produced by various cell types including monocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. Upon stimulation, macrophages, T, B, mast, glial cells, eosinophils, keratinocytes, and granulocytes also secrete IL-6.
This pleiotropic cytokine influences antigen-specific immune response, inflammatory response, and neuronal development, and is a major mediator of the acute phase reaction.

Human IL-6 RSG ELISA Lyophilized Standard is used in Human IL-6 ELISA RSG (Product # 88-7066).

Applications Tested:
Intended for use as a standard in Human IL-6 ELISA (Product # 88-7066-86).
Typically, the standard is run in a series of 7 doubling dilutions from the top standard. Refer to the Certificate of Analysis for instructions on proper reconstitution and dilution.

Note:
Single-use vials. Use within 4 hours of reconstitution and discard afterward. Reconstitute and dilute as per Certificate of Analysis to ensure accurate recovery.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. The protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune diseases or infections.
It is mainly expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and triggers transcriptional inflammatory responses via interleukin 6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 function is linked to various inflammation-associated diseases, including diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Elevated IL-6 levels have been observed in viral infections such as COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
Diseases associated with IL6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.
