Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consisting of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization after mitosis.
GOLGA5 encodes a member of the golgin family, which localizes to the Golgi and may play a role in vesicle tethering and docking. Translocations involving GOLGA5 and the RET proto-oncogene have been identified in tumor tissues, producing chimeric sequences designated RET-II and PTC5.
