Target Information
Rb (Retinoblastoma protein) is a tumor suppressor nuclear phosphoprotein capable of binding to DNA. It is phosphorylated on serine and threonine residues, but not on tyrosine. Rb forms complexes with SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and human papillomavirus-16 E. This protein regulates transcription, and loss of its function leads to uncontrolled cell growth. Mutations or aberrations in the RB gene have been associated with various cancers, including breast, colon, prostate, kidney, nasopharyngeal cancers, and leukemia.
