Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway and consists of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization during mitosis.
The GOLGA6 gene encodes a member of the golgin family localized to the Golgi. It is located within a large low-copy repeat sequence on chromosome 15, associated with genomic rearrangements such as deletions and inversions. The encoded protein is thought to be a functional golgin, while most related copies are transcribed pseudogenes.
