Product Specific Information
The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction.
RPA-T4 recognizes a different epitope than OKT4 and does not cross-block binding.
Applications Reported: For flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume, with 10^5–10^8 cells/test.
Alexa Fluor 660 emits at 690 nm, suitable for spectral cytometers multiplexed with APC, Alexa Fluor 647, and Alexa Fluor 700.

Target Information
CD4 antigen is involved in MHC class II recognition and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed on T-helper lymphocytes and also found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Tissue-level expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of brain and gut.
CD4 functions in early T-cell activation via association with T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
