Target Information
The 14-3-3 theta (YWHAQ) protein belongs to the 14-3-3 family, which mediates signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins.
This highly conserved family is found in both plants and mammals, with this protein being 99% identical to mouse and rat orthologs.
It is upregulated in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The gene contains a 6 bp tandem repeat sequence in its 5′ UTR, which is polymorphic but not correlated with disease.
