Target Information
NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and coordinates multiple cellular functions such as cell cycle control, response to DNA damage, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy.
SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and influences histone/DNA methylation, leading to transcriptional repression.
It plays an essential role in skeletal muscle cell differentiation and mediates the inhibitory effect on myoblast differentiation under low nutrient conditions, involving AMPK and NAMPT pathways.
