Target Information
LAMP2 (Lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 2, CD107b) is a member of the lysosomal membrane glycoprotein family. It provides selectins with carbohydrate ligands and may play roles in tumor cell metastasis, lysosomal maintenance, and adhesion.
Prior to post-translational modification, LAMP2 is approximately 46 kDa; mature LAMP2 is extensively glycosylated, reaching 100–130 kDa.
It consists of a large amino-terminal intra-lysosomal domain, a hydrophobic transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail.
LAMP2 is a marker for chaperone-mediated autophagy and has three variants: LAMP-2A, -2B, and -2C.
Together with CD107a/LAMP-1, LAMP2 is a major constituent of lysosomal membranes, essential for lysosome–phagosome fusion and phagosomal maturation.
Deficiency of LAMP2 leads to autophagosome accumulation and causes cardiomyopathy and myopathy (Danon’s disease).
