Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cell-surface glycoprotein and type I membrane protein originally identified as a myeloid cell-specific marker. It was once thought to be a receptor for C1q, but is now believed to be involved in intercellular adhesion and clearance of apoptotic cells. The intracellular cytoplasmic tail interacts with moesin, a protein that links transmembrane proteins to the cytoskeleton and participates in cytoskeletal remodeling.
