Product Specific Information

The eBioC1.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD244 (2B4, p38), a 38 kDa protein expressed on NK cells, subsets of CD8+ T cells, γδ T cells, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils.
Binding of CD48 to CD244 leads to NK cell activation and IFN-γ secretion. The C1.7 antibody binds the same residue as CD48, inducing NK cell activation through tyrosine phosphorylation and SAP recruitment.

Important Usage Notes

• NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI).
• Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for viability assessment.
• Use CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) for optimal staining.
  • Add 5 µL per sample before mixing with cells.
  • For single-color controls: use 5 µL per 100 µL cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells).

Target Information

CD244 (2B4, SLAMF4) is a receptor on NK cells and some T cells that mediates non-MHC restricted cytotoxicity.
Interaction with SLAMF2 (CD48) modulates NK-cell activation.
Reduced SLAMF4 expression has been observed in systemic lupus erythematosus, suggesting a role in autoimmune pathology.
CD244 dysfunction is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and lymphoproliferative syndrome.
Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
