Antibody detects endogenous levels of total p18 INK4c.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the INK4 family of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors. It interacts with CDK4 or CDK6 to prevent kinase activation, thereby regulating cell cycle G1 progression. Overexpression of this gene can suppress human cell growth, correlating with wild-type RB1 function. Knockout mouse studies indicate roles in spermatogenesis regulation and tumorigenesis suppression. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been reported.
