Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the cyclin family, which regulates cell cycle transitions through activation of cyclin-dependent protein kinases. Cyclin F also belongs to the F-box protein family, characterized by a 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are components of the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex (SKP1–Cullin–F-box), functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. They are classified into three groups: Fbws (WD-40 domains), Fbls (leucine-rich repeats), and Fbxs (varied interaction modules or no recognizable motifs). Cyclin F belongs to the Fbxs class and was one of the first identified F-box proteins.
