Invitrogen™ Total Antioxidant Status (TAS) Colorimetric Assay Kit
The Total Antioxidant Status (TAS) Colorimetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of TAS in serum, plasma, urine, cellular supernatant, and animal and plant tissue samples.
Antioxidants are substances that help protect cells against damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can lead to oxidative stress and various diseases.
Assay Principle
The assay uses ABTS, which is oxidized to ABTS•+ (a blue-green solution) and then further reduced back to colorless ABTS in the presence of antioxidants.
The total antioxidant status can be calculated by measuring the absorbance of ABTS•+ at 660 nm.
