Antibody detects endogenous levels of HtrA2 only when phosphorylated at Ser142.
Target Information
The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of proteins regulates programmed cell death triggered by various stimuli. All IAPs have at least one baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) motif essential for their anti-apoptotic activity. Recently, a serine protease called Omi/HtrA2 has been identified, which is released from mitochondria upon induction of apoptosis. Omi/HtrA2 binds to IAP and contains a conserved IAP-binding motif (AVPS) at its N terminus. Deregulated expression of Omi in the cytoplasm induces apoptosis, suggesting its role in the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway.
