Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an epitope common to all CD44 isoforms.
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval using sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended for paraffin sections.
For flow cytometry, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.

Target Information

CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, white matter of the brain, and epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
Multiple isoforms exist, with CD44H being predominant in normal tissues.
It acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
CD44 is involved in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing, and its expression may increase in certain carcinomas, potentially linked to metastatic potential.
It is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia in cultured keratinocytes.
Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express CD44 at high levels, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 upon stimulation.
The CD44 gene undergoes complex alternative splicing, producing many functionally distinct isoforms.
Dysfunction of CD44 is associated with diseases such as superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus, and may relate to tumor metastasis formation.
