Target Information
ZNF598 (E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase ZNF598) plays a key role in ribosome quality control (RQC).
RQC is activated when a ribosome stalls during translation and is required for ribosomes to terminally stall during translation of poly(A) sequences.
ZNF598 mediates monoubiquitination of 40S ribosomal proteins RPS10/eS10 and RPS3/uS3, preventing synthesis of aberrant poly-lysine tails and initiating degradation of faulty nascent polypeptides.
