This antibody recognizes the alpha chain alone as well as the alpha/beta heterodimer.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin receptor family. It plays a critical role in signal transduction, T cell differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is primarily expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with the T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC class I molecules.
It is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck recruitment, leading to cytokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Differentiation of naïve CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
