Target Information
The TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that is a key regulator of thyroid cell metabolism. It acts as a receptor for thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated by adenylate cyclase. Mutations in this gene are associated with various forms of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
