Product Specific Information

SARS-CoV-2 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), also known as 2019-nCoV, is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus that caused COVID-19. It contains glycosylated spike (S) protein composed of S1 and S2 subunits. The S1 subunit includes a receptor-binding domain (RBD) that binds to ACE2 receptor on target cells.


Target Information

SARS-CoV-2, also known as 2019-nCoV, causes illnesses ranging from mild cold-like symptoms to severe respiratory distress. The CoV Spike (S) protein is crucial for viral attachment, fusion, and entry, and serves as a target for antibody and vaccine development.

The Spike protein receptor-binding domain (RBD, S-RBD) binds strongly to human and bat ACE2 receptors, showing higher affinity than SARS-CoV RBD. The full-length SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein (1273 amino acids) includes:

  • Signal peptide (aa 1–13)
  • S1 subunit (aa 14–685): receptor binding
  • S2 subunit (aa 686–1273): membrane fusion
    The S-ECD represents the extracellular domain of the Spike protein.
