This antibody detects endogenous levels of total CDY1.
Target Information
CDY1 contains both a chromodomain and a histone acetyltransferase catalytic domain. Chromodomain proteins are components of heterochromatin-like complexes and can act as gene repressors. Histone hyperacetylation facilitates the transition in which protamines replace histones as the major DNA-packaging protein.
This gene encodes a protein localized to the nucleus of late spermatids where histone hyperacetylation occurs. The human Y chromosome has two identical copies of this gene within a palindromic region, as well as related genes and pseudogenes. Two protein isoforms are encoded by transcript variants of this gene; additional variants have been described but not fully characterized.
